Chiropractic Care in Burlington for Back, Neck and Movement Concerns

A chiropractic assessment considers your symptoms, health history and how you move. It can help determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate or whether another healthcare assessment is needed.

Reasons to request an assessment include:

  • Back or neck discomfort affecting everyday activities.
  • Joint stiffness or reduced range of movement.
  • Discomfort associated with prolonged sitting, standing or repetitive work.
  • Muscle or movement concerns following sport or physical activity.

Describe when your symptoms began, what changes them and which activities are difficult. These details help the practitioner assess your individual situation.

Care may include hands-on treatment, mobility exercises or movement advice. Your chiropractor will explain which options fit your assessment and preferences. Learn more about chiropractic care at MedCare Clinics.

What to Expect at Your First Chiropractic Appointment in Burlington

Your first visit focuses on understanding your concerns, examining the relevant areas and discussing the findings before deciding on care. The College of Chiropractors of Ontario’s patient guide explains what patients should expect from an assessment.

Discuss your concerns and health history

Explain what brought you in, previous injuries or treatment, relevant medical conditions and what you hope to do more comfortably. Bring any existing reports that may help the practitioner understand your history.

Assessment and explanation of findings

The chiropractor should explain the proposed examination and obtain your consent before proceeding. The examination may include movement, posture and the affected joints or muscles. Afterward, discuss the findings, whether chiropractic care is suitable and any need for further assessment or referral.

Treatment choices and consent

Before agreeing to care, ask about the proposed treatment, expected benefits, material risks and alternatives. An appointment request does not mean you have agreed to an adjustment or a course of treatment. You can ask questions, decline a proposed technique or withdraw consent.

If neck manipulation is proposed, ask specifically about its risks and available alternatives. The CCO’s consent guidance confirms that consent is needed for examination and treatment and can be withdrawn during care.

Follow-up and progress

Discuss the purpose of any follow-up visits, what improvement would look like and when the plan should be reviewed. Your plan may include movement advice or exercises as well as hands-on care. There is no single visit count that applies to everyone.

Chiropractic Fees, OHIP and Insurance

Contact our Burlington clinic for current chiropractic assessment and follow-up fees. Call 905-681-7755 and ask about appointment length, whether treatment is included in the initial fee and any separate charges before booking.

Is chiropractic care covered by OHIP?

No. Chiropractic visits are not covered by OHIP. Patients pay privately or use eligible extended-health benefits. A family doctor’s referral does not make chiropractic treatment OHIP-covered.

Extended-health benefits and direct billing

MedCare offers direct billing for chiropractic services. Confirm whether it is available for your insurer and appointment. Direct billing means an eligible claim is submitted to your insurer; it does not guarantee that your plan will pay the entire fee.

Before your visit, check your chiropractic benefit limit, the amount reimbursed per visit, any deductible and your remaining balance. Some plans require a referral for reimbursement even though you do not need one to request a chiropractic appointment.

The Ontario Chiropractic Association’s guide to extended-health chiropractic coverage explains what to check with your insurer.

Before Your Visit

Bring your health card for identification, insurance information if applicable, and relevant medical reports or imaging results you already have. Bringing a health card does not mean the chiropractic visit is OHIP-covered.

Whether you need X-rays depends on your history and examination; they are not automatically needed for every first visit. If imaging is recommended, ask why it is needed, how it would affect your care and whether existing images are sufficient. The Ontario Chiropractic Association’s first-visit guide explains that imaging may be ordered as part of an assessment.

Please request a chiropractic appointment or call first. The medical centre’s general walk-in service does not guarantee that a chiropractor is available without an appointment.
