Please note that lab hours may vary. We recommend calling the clinic to confirm current lab hours before your visit to ensure availability. Clinic and lab hours may differ on statutory holidays and are subject to close anytime without prior notice. To ensure the safety of staff, patients, and their families, when the weather forecast calls for bad weather and unsafe road conditions, MedCare Clinics may decide to close. We may stop accepting patients prior to closing time if we have reached patient capacity.
An urgent condition is something that needs medical attention soon (usually the same day or within 24 hours) but is not immediately life‐threatening. These conditions are serious enough that you shouldn’t wait days for a regular doctor’s appointment, but they do not require a 9‐1‐1 call or an Emergency Department visit unless symptoms get worse. Some examples of urgent care situations are UTIs, eye infections, fever in adults or older children that is not accompanied by dangerous symptoms and vomiting or diarrhea that isn’t causing severe dehydration. For non-emergency situations, walk-in to be seen at our Brampton urgent care clinic.
Urgent care wait times in Brampton (for example, at Peel Memorial Urgent Care Centre) vary throughout the day based on how busy the centre is and how serious patients’ conditions are.
Typically, patients are seen within about 30 minutes to a couple of hours, but times can be longer during peak periods. Wait times are updated regularly by the hospital and are only estimates. Patients with more urgent needs are always seen first.
Yes, you can still go to urgent care without a health card or insurance, but you will likely have to pay out of pocket. In Ontario, visits to urgent care centres are covered by OHIP only if you have a valid health card. Without one, most clinics will still treat you but typically charge a fee depending on the services you need. At our Brampton urgent care centre, we accept patients with and without OHIP. For patients without OHIP, there would be a consultation fee. We also accept all major forms of private insurance. Please call our walk-in clinic and speak to our staff member.
